caught!

I walked into the living room last night & caught Nathan singing and dancing.  He is SO funny!  In case you can't understand what he's singing, it's Ring Around The Roses.

Memorial Weekend

Such a fun weekend!!
Originally I had planned to take the kids to Disneyland for the long weekend, but I ended up getting a cortisone shot in my ankle Thursday morning and David ended up having baseball tryouts Saturday so I had to change plans.

Saturday morning David had baseball tryouts with a new team since the team he had been playing with disbanded.  Tryouts went well & he made the team and is excited for this new opportunity.  I just met the coaches he will be playing for this weekend, and so far really like them and they did come highly recommended by other coaches we have played for in the past that I trust and respect.  After practice I stopped at the store and as I walked past the big bags of popcorn grabbed a couple and thought it would be fun to take the boys to the lake to feed the ducks and fish!  The little boys loved it!  David had fun trying to catch a fish with his hands, I told him I'd give him $20 if he could get one.  He came close a few times but luckily for me, didn't get one!  On our way home we drove through Boulder City and stopped at A&W for dinner.

Sunday afternoon the little boys and I went to the park with some friends and played for a few hours.  Monday we had so much fun!  You know it is a great day when the kids are ALL asleep before you get on the freeway to go home!  We went to Grandma & Papa's house (my mom & dad) to swim and BBQ for the holiday.  When we got up there we were so excited to see our adopted cousins & in-laws were there to play with too, we knew my brother & his family and my sister and her family would be there.  The little boys had a lot of fun playing with all the kids, there are so many the same ages it is always fun!  My boys don't have to many cousins their ages (& that are boys) so it is well worth it to drive across town to see our adopted into family!  Even David had fun playing & swimming with the older girl cousins until the boys got there!
We had such a fun and care-free weekend, it was a good taste of what this already fun filled summer will be like!

thank goodness it's over & a new sport

Last spring I put Thomas in t-ball for the first time.  He hated it!!  Most of the season he sat on the bench or in the dirt in the outfield, only participated when it was his turn to hit and still walked to the base!  After that I decided I was not going to do t-ball/baseball with him again.  This season he insisted that he needs to play t-ball, that he is now old enough & ready to play.  Thinking since it was his idea to play maybe the results would be better, so I signed him up for the city league instead of little league just in case I only would've wasted $40 instead of $140!  Thomas did a lot better this year with t-ball.  He had his last game on Wednesday and is glad that it is over and he never has to play baseball again!  I think we have established that baseball is not his sport!

Since baseball isn't his thing, I talked to him about soccer, football and basketball.  According to him, he can't do soccer because he will want to use his hands and that isn't allowed, can't do football cause he'd get dead, and doesn't want to do basketball.  So, after talking about different options of things he can do we decided on karate!  He has been going for about a month now and is doing really well.  He is going twice a week to class and is really enjoying it!

A, B, C

I just love this little boy!  He is such a sweet, loving, funny, active little boy. He constantly is making me laugh!  He is doing SO well at school, he loves his teachers and enjoys going to school and loves riding the bus home!  He has recently started singing songs.  He likes 3 little monkeys, both swinging in the tree and jumping on the bed and the ABC song.

recap of the week

What is this???  It is a piece of apple!  Nathan was eating an apple and thought it would be great to take a piece out of his mouth and put it up his nose!  Luckily he told me he did it, so I checked up there with a flashlight and sure enough a chuck of green apple was up there.  I tried getting it out with my tweezers, but it was to far up I couldn't reach it, I really need to get a pair of medical tweezers! So, off to the ER we went.

once we were back in our normal room, I asked Nathan why he was at the hospital & this is what he said

This week Thomas had baseball pictures!  Last year he refused to be in his team picture or take individual pictures, so this is a major accomplishment!  He is on the bottom row 4th in from the left.
The photographer told him to smile showing his teeth.....this is what she got!  Luckily she got a picture of him smiling nicely too!

And Nay-Nay....he is doing SO well at preschool!  He just finished his first full week.  Every morning his teacher goes around to the kids and does "hi's & hugs" where she gets down and greets every child and welcomes them to class and then asks them if they would like a hug.  The first day of school Nathan turned away from her and said "eeeehhhh", the second day he said "no thank you", and the third day and every day since he has either said yes or shook his head yes & hugged her!  This week he also started riding the bus!  He doesn't want to ride it to school only home, which is fine with me!  I think it is easier for him to ride home since all the kids in his class get on the bus together & ride home.  I went to the school for his first bus ride home & took pictures and made sure he wasn't going to get scared and not get on the bus!  He did great though, held his teachers hand and climbed right up in the bus.   The bus pulled up in front of the house and I went out to get him off the bus & he stood in the driveway and waved by to the bus driver.  He talked about it all afternoon!  Even now, he will ask me "mom you see me on the bus" and I tell him yes, and he tells me "I sit by the window" and starts laughing and then tells me how fun it is on the bus.  I can't believe how fast he is growing up!
David is doing good.  He is crazy busy with school, scouts, baseball and football!

first day of school

Nathan finally got accepted into the Child Find program through CCSD!  I have been trying for the last few months (since Thanksgiving) to get him in the early childhood program.  He and I went last week to a meeting and found out he got in, and got the phone call Tuesday that we needed to go register at the elementary school he will be attending.  We went to the school Wednesday morning and registered, then went back pack shopping.  We also grabbed an extra set of clothes for school and he picked out a new first day of school shirt.  He picked our the Lightning McQueen backpack!
And he started school this morning!!  He was SO excited to go to school!  The first thing he said this morning was "I go to school, I go on the yellow bus"  He does get to take the bus to & from school but not till next week.

Nathan leaving the house with his backpack on & walking into school
His school is from 9-11:40am, but I still have been really worried about him going, especially since he only likes me and won't even talk to people or when they talk to him he hides behind me.  But, I held his hand in line and walked him to the door, knelt down gave him a hug and a kiss and told him I loved him and to have a fun day.  Then I got up and walked away as his teacher took his hand into the building.  It was so sad!  He was holding his teacher's hand looking behind him crying "mommy", which made me cry (I was great till then!).
At the end of school he walked out holding his teacher's hand.  She said he did great, and only cried for about 1/2 hour (me too!!)  I am SO proud of him and excited that he wants to go back!  I can't believe that he is old enough for preschool!  It seems like just yesterday he was my little baby.

First day of school....SUCCESS!!

MudCats

The MudCats had their first t-ball game last night!  They won 48-22!!! Great job boys!  Thomas is number 6, he hit the ball very well when he was up to bat.  He wasn't to big on playing in the field though! At least he wasn't picking flowers or playing in the dirt....it's a step up from last year!
