All-Stars 2012

Today was the mid-season All-Star game for little league!  David was selected to be one of the players!!

David, Harrison, Scott (cousin) & Lino were the boys selected from the Giants for the All-Star game.  David had a great time playing, he got to play catcher & in the field in today's game.

Nathan LOVES to watch "Dabid pay ball"  He likes to stand at the fence and watch. The entire half of the inning that David is catching & when he is hitting or on base you can find Nathan pressed up against the fence yelling at his Dabid.

It was a great afternoon for baseball! The boys had a great & memorable time.

hair

Today was the day! It was FINALLY our appointment day for the boys to get their haircut!
Here are before & after shots of each of the boys...

David did his regular haircut
Tommy got the same haircut he got last time, the little spikes, but he likes no spikes because when he has spikes and has to scratch his head it hurts his fingers!
and my baby Nay-Nay... I think I have shed a few tears this week knowing that today was the day for haircuts.  I LOVE Nathan's long blonde hair. But with his recent 2 year old attitude/independence he refuses to let me brush his hair & with how long it is, it is just all knotty/nesty looking.  I had to have Nathan go first today for haircuts before I wussed out and decided just to do a trim on him.  I was afraid he'd lose the blonde in his hair if I went short, and also that it would make him look older (I'm not ready for him to grow up yet)  But, throughout the day, his haircut is growing on me and I really like it! It is way more manageable for a very active little boy.
& yeah, part of why we did haircuts not only did they need them, but they are getting their pictures done next week!

almost

Last night after Tommy's baseball practice we went to McDonald's to run off any left over energy, then came home took baths/shower, got jammies on & went to bed about 9pm.  David was in his room asleep & the little boys were in their room.  They were all quiet so I figured they were all asleep and I laid down in bed about 10:30.  As I was laying there getting comfortable I smelled something burning. At first I figured it was the neighbor's fire pit, then realized that I had the windows shut since the a/c is on. As I laid there thinking what was running (washer/dryer, dishwasher) and realized nothing was on I jumped out of bed and down the hall first checking the kitchen and finding nothing, nothing in the living room or the boys bathroom. David's door was open so that was easy to check, which only left the little boys room.  I feel like it took me 10 minutes to get their door open, (the latch on their door was broke so it takes a few tries and holding your breath & tongue just right to get that door open) but once I got in there I could smell the smoke/burning SO strongly.  Tommy says "mom smell that?" I said yes Thomas, as I am trying to get the light on & figure out what is going on, and Nathan is saying "nighty night all done".  These little stinkers took out the dresser drawer and got to a plug that didn't have plug covers on it, and plugged in the light that goes to the fish tank (our fish died last week and the tank is sitting empty & unplugged on the dresser waiting for new fish), they also plugged in the heater for the tank and laid the heater on the wooden dresser!!  That is what was burning! Luckily there wasn't a fire, I can only imagine how horrible it could've been, between the door knob, and everyone sleeping, a few hours later or if I hadn't smelled the burn.
After I got it taken care of I had Tommy & Nathan sitting down and was trying to explain and make them understand that it isn't ok to touch plugs, that only mommy's or daddy's do that and how scary it can be if there is a fire.  And Tommy says to me, "it's ok if there is a fire mom, you can buy me new toys besides I really really like the firemen, they are real nice and I really like to see their firetruck and it would be so so cool if they came to my house in their firetruck with their lights on!!"

Here is the heater, the top part on the picture where it is brown is the burned part, they burned it right up.
Poor little boys....they are so tired today!  After me tearing in there & through their room like a crazy lady so late last night!  My adrenaline was  certainly going afterwards though, I wasn't able to stop shaking so I cleaned for a few hours to calm down before checking on everyone & everything and then finally going to bed.  And yes, the little boys both slept in bed with me last night :)

Preschool Graduation

Thomas is graduating preschool!! Graduation is May 11th. He will be sending out his invitations in a week or so. Here are the sample graduation pictures I can order. I don't know what they did to get him to smile so great, but I love it!! I can't believe he is starting kindergarten this fall! It seems like just yesterday he was my early, scrawny, nicu baby.

What a week!!

We had a really boring spring break this year! With Tommy getting his tonsils out we just stayed home & didn't do a whole lot of anything!

We did get lots of slurpees & got to eat a lot of popsicles!
We got into a crazy sleep schedule, napping at 5-6pm & going to bed at midnight or later most nights, but we did get to sleep in!
Monday morning I noticed Nathan had broken out from his back/chest to his ankles in a rash, he got an appt to see the pediatrician for Tuesday morning.  We went in Tuesday & he has a viral rash that is going around town right now. Nothing serious, just a nasty looking rash.
This is what Nathan's thigh & tummy looked like Tuesday
I had to throw these pictures of Nathan in.  I love them!!  I was cleaning the boys bathroom the other day, David was at school, Tommy was sleeping and Nathan was playing my ipod.  It was quiet in the house...all the sudden I hear Nathan bust out laughing so loud and hard.  After he had been laughing for a minute I went to go see what was so funny.  I found him on the kitchen floor with the soap dispenser!  He had pushed a chair to the sink to reach the soap, got down and was sitting on the floor squirting the foam soap into his hands and rubbing them together just laughing thinking it & he was so funny!
Tommy had been doing so good recovering from his surgery until Tuesday afternoon.  We went to our ENT post-op appointment and everything looked good, and then Thomas stopped wanting to eat & started to say that it hurt to much to drink.  By Wednesday afternoon he had only had 1/2 a small slurpee since Tuesday, and he started looking more pale, had dark circles under his eyes and was very lethargic.  I talked to the ENT  and we decided to give him the afternoon to either eat & drink or go to the ER & get an IV.  It took a while to convince Tommy that I was not playing with him. Finally he came to me asking if I would take him to McDonald's to eat, he even told me that he promised me that he would eat all of his chicken if I take him.  We had to talk about what a promise is & what it means. Then we went...and he ate 3 of his 4 chicken nuggets! (Nathan stole his 4th in addition to his 4) I had to peel the crispy part off the nugget and break it into little pieces for him, but HE ATE! And he drank a full cup of juice!!  So, luckily we didn't need to go to the hospital.  It is amazing what some food & drink will do to a kid, in no time at all after he ate he was up and playing & running around with his brothers.  Since then, he has still eaten for me & has been drinking.  He's not eating good food, he's had some mini powdered doughnuts, hotdogs & chicken nuggets, but hey it's food and it's a start!
This is Nathan's thigh & tummy again today, the rash is going away and looking better every day! Good thing it's been windy this week so he has been in long pants & you can't tell he has a rash since on his arms it is mainly above his elbows :)

Tommy is looking & feeling MUCH better today!

Easter

The Easter Bunny came!!  He left the boys baskets under their pictures so they would know which one was theirs. (& yes, I know I need to update their pictures!!)

Thomas woke up really early to see what the Easter Bunny brought him.  He was a little upset that he had to wait for Nathan to wake up before he could start egg hunting.  I came into the living room & found Thomas laying curled up on the couch between the baskets.
We woke Nathan up and he LOVED finding eggs! His only problem was he couldn't hold so many in his arms at once!!  We had to show him he could put the eggs he found in his bucket, after that he did great!

Thomas was super excited that there was candy in his eggs!!  He has been asking all week when Easter was because he "wanted to find eggs with cars inside"! Luckily the Easter Bunny hid a few eggs filled with hot wheels in them for the boys to find
(this picture is just proof that David is here & good!  he seems to not want to be in any pictures these days)
Nathan with his new mini Minnie Mouse he got in his basket.  He loves Minnie!!
We had Easter dinner at my parents house with my brother, sister in law, niece & nephew and a few family friends.  It was so much fun!  The cousins played so well and had a great time together! You know it is a success when your kids leave dirty from playing so hard outside & fall asleep for the night on the way home!

Easter Eggs

I really don't like dying Easter eggs!!  I don't hide real eggs, because there is always one not found! Two of my three kids can't/won't eat eggs. So to hard boil dozens of eggs to color will last us forever before David finally eats them! If I use raw eggs, which I do, I have to worry about the boys breaking them as they are dying them.  I think the best thing would be for all the grandkids to go to Grandma & Papa's house a weekend before Easter & dye eggs with them!   Anyways, the kids & I dyed eggs today.  They had fun & did a good job with them, we won't be winning any egg decorating competitions with them, but they had a good time!

 Tommy ready to dye eggs
Nathan deciding what colors to do his eggs

Tommy's nice blue egg (his favorite color)

 uh-oh!!  Nathan dropped his egg!!

Nathan LOVED playing with the dyes!
 Our Easter Eggs!!
After the boys finished, I started taking the glasses to the sink, when my back was turned Nathan decided to help, and grabbed the blue cup.  He tried to get off the chair with it and dropped the cup! Oops!!

He was so sad & started crying (I love his sad face!)

Tonsils

Tommy got his tonsils & adenoids out this morning!
Our ENT was concerned about the shape of his inner ears too, but said once he got in there and saw the size of Tommy's adenoids he has no doubt that there will be no problems with Tommy's ears now that his tonsils & adenoids are gone. He also said that Tommy's tonsils were very infected (which we knew) but that the blood vessels in his tonsils were also really infected.  Which I'm not glad, not that he was so bad, but that they really really needed to come out & it wasn't just a 'lets try this & see how it works' procedure.
Tommy did ok in the hospital this morning, he was very scared and kept saying he just wanted to go home.  He cried when the nurse took him into the operating room, but she said he calmed right down & did great once they got in there & was even talking to her, the doctor & anesthesiologist.  He had a rough time in recovery, but what kid doesn't! He drank a little juice & ate most of a popsicle and got to go home.
Since being home he took a great nap, ate a chocolate chip cookie and 1/2 a peanut butter sandwich, has had  a bunch of popsicles and is on his 5th slurpee!  He is doing pretty well, but I think it is from all the drugs from the hospital that haven't worn off yet...we will see tomorrow if the greatness continues!!  Last night he & I went to the store to buy popsicles for him and Tommy got to pick out a special toy & movie for today, things that he could do sitting/laying and calmly and quietly.  He picked out a Scooby-Doo movie, a puzzle and Cars 2 monopoly and has been happily and nicely playing today.
I was pretty concerned about doing this, Tommy refuses to take any medication no matter how good it might taste or if it is liquid or chewable.  If you can get it in him, he will make himself throw it up, he even can tell if you try to hide it in food/drink and will refuse no matter how hungry or thirsty he is.  Knowing that he'd be in pain after having his tonsils removed kinda figured he'd either man-up and take the pain meds or he would be one tough kid by the end of this!  But, he can't tell that his tylenol w/ codeine is in his slurpees :)
